Default 91' 90q20v 7A Help

<center><img src="http://s110.photobucket.com/albums/n101/needspeed96/?action=view&amp;current=SDC10040.jpg"></center><p>Hey everyone my first post and i need some help.

i recently bought a higher milage 90 quattro 20v with teh 7A and i have a few bus.. not to bad for a car with 170XXX miles and 280XXX kms.

Problem one.
under colder engine temps the car wills oemtiems lose alot of power and if i rev up to 2k rpm ish and let off i get loud enough backfires that i can feel em in my but.
The solve this i turn off the car and restart and its fine.

Problem 2.
Exhaust leak from manifold or somewhere around there. The leak stop at running temps. Gasket? broken Studs? Also leads me to wating to know where i can find a bag-o-snakes from an earlier model.... a junkyeard type deal? anyother motors that had this taht i can use on my 7A

Problem 3.
under full steering lock or some low grip conditions when turning i get clicking soudns from front diff i think. Scince this is my first car and ive never had an audi with quattro that i regularly rode in i dunno if this is normal or not.

Also i have a vacume leak somewhere and other things like ym fuel gauge is very itermintant and my coolent temp or odo dont work.

Another thing is i want to put a custom cone filter on my intake as its easier to clean and apperntly it gives teh car a wicked sound. i also wanna take out my cats andget a new muffler or complete system if not stright pipes.

Anyone that can heal would make my first car that much mroe wonderful and help the world see how epic the 20v sounds!

Kyle.

Default Your car is running very rich....

The clicking sound is most likely the cv joint on the axle. Gauges not working is part of the wonderful Audi electrics.

Fix the vacuum leaks first. Replace the O2 sensor and tune up parts. Replace axle.

Do it all in that order and then see where your car stands. Its always best to start with a good base.

Default Thanks, Any Idea on Prices $$$

Hey thanks for the info.

As im a student I am on a limited budget which consists of almost nothing..

Do you have any idea on what an O2 Sensor would cost? Ive already replaced the plugs and the air filter looks fine but i might replace anyways.

I know a guy who has a spare 90 not shue if Quatrro and im shure its a 10v. I could ask for replacement parts for cheep.
And do you know what hoses i could Check?
any info is awsome.

Thanks.
Kyle.

Default Good looking car! Take a stroll over to the 90 forum, lots of your problems can be answered there

Problem 1
sounds like a dirty/problematic ISV, Check out www.20v.org for instructions on cleaning it

Problem 2
unfortunately only the 20v engine headers will work for you (there is the snakes and the cast unless you go turbo), there are people selling the bag of snakes on random forums (try audifans.com or motorgeek.com)

Problem 3

I agree with GinCQ, I would check the CV joints first clicking sounds normally come from those

Vacuum leaks are very common and could also be a source for problem 1, fix these things first, your car will thank you.

Cone Filters do give you that strong intake sound but many people will tell you that it hurts performance not help. go to the 80/90/cabrio forum on this website and look for "iprodrive" in his signature he has a few links and one of them is for a conefilter mod.

enjoy your car, they are amazing cars! and addicting too

Default O2 sensor is about $100. As for the hoses...

check the hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator and any other vacuum hose to see. Breather hose likes to tear also. Its the big hose coming up off of the block (underneath the FPR) and running into a metal pipe that connects at two ports. One on the intake manifold right after the throttle body and one under the intake boot. If you take the intake boot off of the throttle body you will find that there is a metal vacuum port attached to the bottom. That metal part is connect to the breather hose on the other end. You should be able to track it down. All of the other vacuum hoses are easy to get to. Also, you may want to check your timing.
