carb on an 86 CGT???
I desperately want to convert my CGT from the K-jet to carb. but was wondering...is it possible? I know that some earlier UK model coupes came with carbs. but thats about the extent of my knowledge. I cant for the life of me locate any of the manifolds though (for the carb'd models).ANY insight into this would be GREATLY appreciated.thanks all!

I have a friend who is building an 84 CGT with an MC engine,
but before he went turbo, he was gonna have Weber DCOE40 carbs (2.5 of them), LOL
Though I have never seen it, he claims that he has a split carb that he got cut for the 5th cilynder...

"Split" Weber Carbs
Not *that* an unknown thing..!
When setting up Minis with the 'ultimate' Weber setup, you need to use a split carb.
If you use a single Weber DCOE carb, the manifold has too many curves to line up to the head intake ports correctly.

To line up for a straight shot to the head, two carbs have to be mounted in the same place at the same time.
Can't be done, hence a 'cut' weber, as on the left in this picture. Only one throat of each carb body is used....

I'll bet that such a setup on an I5 would sound really neat!

Re: "Split" Weber Carbs
huh??? that seems like a waste of money to me. why only use one barrel of a 2 barrell carb? is that what you mean? I'm so confused! I would like to do 5 single barrells...now that would sound wicked!

Trading for performance...
They use only one throat of each carb, so that the carb throats and intake manifolds are all in a straight line to the opening on the head.
(More important on a Mini head, as the intake ports are shared between cylinders. Only two intake ports ont eh head, for four cylinders. Each intake splits in two, inside the head.
Such a setup becomes a 'performance overides cost' kind of compromise.
It costs money to go faster!
