Default Exhaust manifold/header options for MC 10v turbo...

I5 forum, wahoo!

So I've been doing a pretty major overhaul of my 1990 200 TQ Avant and I've been trying to find a source for a aftermarket manifold/header.

While I have found someone who will make manifolds/headers for people using EFI setups, I haven't found anyone who makes one for the stock CIS setup. With the manifold sandwiched in the small space between the engine and the turbo there isn't much space to work with.

Has anyone here seen or heard of any options besides Dialynx or the two-piece from the stealer?

Is there anyone who might be able to cast one out of something other than iron? Nickle maybe? Maybe some of us can get together to get a few units made at once.

I don't feel like it makes much sense to use the stock unit as mine was cracked in 3 places and it will probably crack again if I get it welded up. However if I can't find anything better I will use that method. I'm not as concerned with it increasing performace as much as increasing reliability, however I don't want to lose much/any either.

Any good metal work shops in the New England area that might do a custom/one-off piece would be good to hear about because I don't know about any of them.

Default I don't think anyone has made a CIS option

The CIS system takes up too much room to do a custom tubular manifold. If the CIS is gone there are many options for exhaust manifolds as you stated.

I think the two-piece which allows for some expansion is the reliable option while keeping CIS.

Default That and most can't get the CIS to flow enough fuel

to justify putting a header on. Toxcheep seems to get around this somehow.

Default Javad Shadzi had a 10v header...

on his 80 while it was 10vt, he has since gone to a 20vt monster that produces 500bhp

The big issues is the airbox and airflow plate being in the way. EFI is in your future!

Cheers,

Default audifreakjim - I was looking at your page and read that

you used a 20vt head gasket... what is the advantage to using it over the stock 10vt head gasket? I'm gonna order a head gasket and head
bolts today and was wondering if I should with the 20vt gasket.

With the header it's really about having one that's not gonna crack. I would go with the two-piece manifold but the price is hard to swallow.

while I'm at it, how much do the ARP head bolts run?

cheers

Default the 20vt HG is all metal, a much better design for high boost,

For headstuds, see<ul><li><a href="http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&amp;Ntk=KeywordSear ch&amp;Ntt=Audi+5+Cylinder&amp;PartSearchFlag=On"> http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&amp;Ntk=KeywordSear ch&amp;Ntt=Audi+5+Cylin

Default Myke and Den have spent a lot of time testing the system, and tweaking it. Those two probably know

more about CIS than just about anyone...
