    Part 3
The rest of the car seems fine, the mileage is a bit high (228000Km) 137K Milles I think! But the price is good, so Iím looking forward 2 interesting times ahead. Iím picking it up in the next week or so, & it is going straight to the transmission shop with the other gearbox for fitment, itís going to be interesting!!!! I will keep uíll posted.

    Part 2
Anyhow, after some investigating, I found out that on the D3 I cannot just buy a second hand gearbox, as it has 2 match the parts list numbers & the coding numbers, as the mechatronic is not reprogrammable, even though the cars seem the same! However I was able 2 find 1 that has matching numbers, & hoping that it will turn out 2 b in good condition (Iím given 1 month guarantee). We have a ZF branch near me, that I have dealt with before (on the D2), but they refuse 2 fit the second hand box 4 me!? Wanting to charge in the region of R70000 ($6000) 4 a recon unit. According to them, after installing it, the car has 2 go 2 the Audi stealership so that the car computer b programmed to except the different gearbox? Even though the numbers r the same. 1 of the people there, referred me 2 a workshop run by a guy who used to work for ZF, & he tells me that with the same specs the gearbox should work without re-programming needed.

    My new venture. Part 1
Hi all, greetings from sunny Johannesburg. I see on the news (& some post's) that most of u guys r snowed under! We can only wish for snow. Anyway, here is the story...After having had a Ď91 C3, Ď92 C3, Ď94 C4, Ď97 C5, 2001 D2, I'm about 2 buy a 2004 D3 which has a broken gearbox (trany- as you guys call it), & by broken, I mean totally burned out & striped out of the car. Why would he get into such a problem I hear you think! Well, such cars are not very popular here, as parts & maintenance is astronomical (this morning I need 11.75 South African rand, 2 buy just 1 US Dollar!!!). So folks like me, who really like the A8, have 2 either borrow from the bank (at 9-10% interest), or buy broken, & fix by ourselves, with the help of this forum, which has been a life saver with issues Iíve had (new parts are still a big challenge though).
