Is it bad...

To have a Euro front plate and US rear plate with a MD State Police frame? Apparently only family and friends of Police can get it. I have an extra if anyone wants to pick it up.

Anways back to my question...Think it would be sort of mocking the police to have a police frame and at the same time have an illegal front plate?

spicnspan320 09-25-2004 07:01 PM

not really....

atleast i dont think so...i know police who as their other cars have cars with no plates and stuff because they too are enthusiast...

again, age old answer...depends on the cop

I think no plate is better than an "illegal" front plate- I've had my TT front plate...

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/6316/tthardtop.jpg"></center><p>in my trunk for over 4 years now without a problem. I know some cars look better without a plate and others need something on the front, but I still think in a state requiring a front tag you're better off with the state issued tag or completely bare, as a substitute draws attention in my opinion. YMMV

its not fair...Audis are clearly not designed to have front plates...

Which dealer did you get your car from? Did it come with no front plate or did you take it off and have the bumper fixed?

I've got nasty holes and little dents from where the screws push into the bracket, and the paint around the corners of the bracket has been scuffed off. So I don't know what to do. Also, I already ordered a Euro Plate.

I got my TT 7/00- back in days when they had to be ordered- I bought a spare front mounting panel..

in advance (black plastic) , gave it to my salespeson and told him I wanted the front plate put on it and wanted the virgin silver one to be put in the trunk. When I got home I drilled out the pop rivets and installed the original panel and I was in business. Saved having to paint a new panel or trying to cover 4 holes. BTW the dealers don't install plate as per audi instructions which involves removing the panel, attaching the plate bracket, and putting the panel back on, Instead they drill through the plate and the front bumber and pop rivet the plate through both. Saves them time but made removal frustrating for those of us who thought they did it the correct way!

Font mounting panel?

I think I'm missing something here.

mowog 09-26-2004 06:26 PM

There is a panel the size of a euro plate on the front of most audis...

this is removable and the US plate bracket is attached to it. The bollowing is from clairparts.<ul><li><a href="http://clairparts.com/accessories4.asp?product_id=1182&amp;PDID=169573"> http://clairparts.com/accessories4.asp?product_id=1182&amp;PDID=169573</a</li></ul>

Most Audis...I see where i couldn't figure out what you meant because A4s certainly do not have that

mowog 09-27-2004 06:29 PM

You're right- only TT seems to have this-our allroad had an indentation where a tag would fit but...

no panel- I just assumed all used a similar panel to go from EU to US/CA type of tags. Drilling holes through the front end really sucks.
