Consolation prize for people who didn't go to VIR...
... I just switched to FIOS and DirecTV told us to keep our hardware. So I'm giving away a Hughes DirecTV + Tivo DVR. It's not HD.
Let me know if you are interested. I also have two regular DirecTV boxes. |
How is FIOS vs DirecTV? They just put in the FIOS cables in my neighborhood.
Right now I run Dish Network for satellite and HD service.
|
FiOS pwns. Unfortunately Baltimore city will never have it.
they want to charge some ridiculous ground rent to run fiber. Baltimore ****y FTL
|
for Tivo DVR...do I need a subscription? or just the box?
if not, interested!
|
I think it's just a glorified VCR, so you should be able to use it.
|
In theory FIOS should crush DirecTV, but we've had some issues.
> The HD picture is NOT HD. I think we have a problem that can be fixed. Building up energy to call FIOS help line. I had over-the-air high def on the same TV and it was eye-popping. FIOS HD so far is not impressive.
> The user interface is WAY behind DirecTV including the ability to record series' and find by description. They keep updating it. > Periodic glitches that make channels unavailable for no apparent reason. |
They seem to be better for internet, but I am wondering about their channel selection, etc
Right now, I would like a few more HD channels. But there are certain ones I think that are exclusive to Dish Network from the VOOM pack. I really dig Monsters HD and Kung FU HD.
|
Hmmmm.... How's the HD channel selection? More than DirecTV?
|
just looked it up...need a monthly subscription. d'oh.
