LOL!!! at carmax telling my wife and i that her transmission is shot
and her car is only worth $7500. wow, those people are stupid cause they thought we would panic and get rid of it.

Based on my recent experience there, I think they are probably trying to reduce inventory.
I'll bet there are a lot of people trying to get rid of cars right now, and CarMax does not want to end up overstocked. So they're low-balling. That does not, however, justify trumping up a bogus mechanical issue. With our MDX, they just tossed out a low price.

I think the appraiser did what he was encouraged to do. His boss will give him a raise!
My experience was at least professional. The rep was very personable and he did everything he could to keep my expectations low. I just said that my expectations were based on CarMax prices for the same car, minus a couple thousand for their profit.
When he came back with a low ball, and I said it was not sufficient, he treated me like gum on the sole of his shoe.
