Default Need a local bank. Any suggestions?

I just need a checking account and a couple of savings accounts for minor business use. I may need a money market account too, but not for sure. It also might be good to establish a relationship with a good bank because a house is in our near future.

I have a Riggs, Wachovia and Sun Trust within a block of my office. Any hits or skips there?

Default ....

Bank of America - advantages would be free bill pay, and lots of ATMs. Bill pay is your best friend if you do like paying bills online, and you don't like writing checks (ie, me).

IIRC, M&T bank also offers free bill pay.

As for savings accounts and loan incentives, shop around and compare banks. If you are looking to buy a house within the next 2 years, I would shop for an incentive...I doubt your relationship w/ a bank would hold any water for less than 2 years, unless you've got a large amount of money that you need to transfer into your accounts there. That's a guess though, fortunately I've never had to go directly through a bank for a loan of any kind.

Default Riggs if you want a local "power" bank and one thats on the money or atleast was, although they

were recently bought by PNC Bank in PA. Chevy Chase is another excellent choice.

Default I bank at First Union AKA Wachovia

They're spensive. The only reason why I'm there is because I used to work there many moons ago.

Default I prefer the bank of Paper Bag under my Matress although

I here good things about the Bank of Pickle Jar on top of the Fridge.

I am with M&T bank and have been with them for a long time. They went from 1st National to Allfirst to M&T. I have two checking accts and a money market with them. Overall no complaints.

Default What sucks bout Sun Trust?

Thinking about them because their balance requirements on the MM account fit my needs better.

Its for my tax account, so it will grow weekly, and shrink four times a year.
