Default 80Q--No Start

MY 1990...if that matters!!

Help!! My car is in a parking lot and will not start at the moment!!

I had been driving the car all day with no problems...then stopped at this
store quick to check something and went back out to leave!! I was out of
the car for only about 2 minutes!!

Turned the key and it turned over once and then nothing!! Okay no big deal
try it again, nothing...no turning over and no "clicking". It's like there
is no power going to the starter...NOTE it is a 5-spd....SO the auto
selector lever switch is NOT it!!

I tried it occasionally while waiting to get picked up and....still the
same...nothing!! It seems to me that it is the ignition switch but that is
only about two months old!! I'm thinking battery at the moment because I
don't know how old it is but I would think I would still get some "clicking"
from the starter(like I did last time I suddenly lost a battery)!!

Any thoughts....Any BTDT's

TIA!!!

Default 80Q--No Start*UPDATE*

I went back with a voltmeter and the battery checks out at 12.66V. I also
ran the check (from Bentley) on the starter. I'm getting no voltage from
the ignition switch....looks like I lost another one!!

I'm going to go back in a little while and try hot-wiring it!! I'll let you know if I get it home!!!

Anybody have any home-made hot-wire "recipe" that has worked for them!!! TIA!

Default had something like that...

only it was just a VERY dead battery after the mech left the key in the 'on' position w/out engine on for too long. Still a big hassle... best of luck to ya!

Default Had something like that happen to me...

the back of the switch is a little hard to see and I had a wire pop out of the connector when I pushed it back on (had just replaced the switch). The darn thing would intermittantly do as you note.

Default Thanks for the responses.....(more)

..but I gave up on it. I tried hot-wiring the car with no luck!! So this morning I just had the car towed up to my mechanic(I needed some other things fixed too).

I'm going to replace the battery, so I know that it's good for the next problem, and then we'll see what he finds out!! I'll post what the problem is when I get it back.....right now I would bet on the switch(or connection at the switch, from DaveN)!!!
