Default Aftermarket power steering hose??

I'm currently in the process of gathering parts to repair my 1990 90. Like many other Audis I see come though the dealership that I work for, my car needs a high pressure power steering hose (Part# 893422893J). The factory part is drastically over-priced (even w/my employee discount!!). Has anyone out there encountered a more reasonably priced aftermarket alternative?

Default I'd probably go with the OEM hose's, but here's another route...

Try a local hydralic shop. Most of these places can make "custom" hoses for cheap and they are usually of the same quality as the OEM hoses. Make sure that if you do get a hose fabricated...to check and see if the hose requires a dampner or not. Alot of Audi hoses have this dampner...and if you replace one without it you will be getting "moaning" noises when you turn...due to the lacking of the dampner. HTH

P.s. these places are also good for fabricating the oil cooler lines also...saves you big $$
