Cat. question
You helped me a lot again. I found the O2 sensor, if i'm not mistaken. It's on the exhaust but not very low and it does look like a small spark plug with 3 wires or so. It can't be anything else. Unfortunatelly it's not very cheap. The cat converter which is also under a big question will cost me some money as well plus labor cost.
I decided to keep things the way they are hoping that i won't destroy the car by doing that. I have T-belt service comming very very soon and it will cost me $200 for labor only. I'm waiting for the parts to come any day this week(another $130) When i'm done with that i guess then i'll work on the smell/performance issue. I think that having that smell once in a while can't be that serious and it can wait a little more. The car still runs good even without "top power" output. I hope i'm not wrong.
Last question.... is bad O2 sensor going to affect gas mileage so i would notice it. My gas mileage has been around 20-22mpg(mixed driving) for the last year or so. When only city + AC it goes below 20 to 16. That's sounds OK to me having an AT and pushing the car harder once in a while. Is it? And, at what number of miles/age do these sensors go bad /normally/ on this engine?
Thanks again for all your help!
