Heated Oxygen Sensor? II

Heated Oxygen Sensor? II
Thanks to those who replied to my original questions. I have a few that went unanswered. They are:
1. My car was scanned by Audi and I have the printout. Which Oxygen Sensor is bad? Driver or Passenger Side?
On the print out it reads:
-----------------
Coding 0011
1 DTC recognized
00555 003
Heated Oxygen Sensor II -G108
No signal
sporadic DTC.
----------------
Handwritten on the printout reads:
Bank #2, Sensor #1, Pre-CAT.
2. Can I bench test the Oxygen Sensor before replacing it to verify it's bad?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Heated Oxygen Sensor? II
Testing: oxy sensors have a limited lilfe span, so you expect to replace them at 50K (or 100K if you're lucky.) If its old, no point in testing, it will likely be failing soon. The bigger question I think is whether you can get away with a generic (Read: Generic=much cheaper) sensor instead of the audi brand. I did that with my 1988 90 and it works fine. The actual replacement is quite easy, once you find it.
