HELP ! HELP! Rebuilding an AT / cost.
I posted yesterday about my AT problem on my Audi 100 '89 and today i went to the Audi shop where i usually go to ask them what is wrong with my car. BTW, since last night the AT doesn't go above 1st gear anymore. I was parked all day and just from doing nothing it got worse.?!?!?
(( Why?So, i went and i asked them what is going on and they told me that it is time for a rebuild. The car has 117k miles, so it is about time according to them. They said some seals inside the AT went bad and some other stuff as well...just because of old age.?! They said that the whole rebuild incl. parts and labor will cost me ~$1500-1600 .
What do you think? Is this a reasonable price? Is it really time for rebuilding? (currently the car cannot go more than 30mph, it is not usable at all)
Should i check for cheaper solutions of my problem? Are there any at all?
The car, except the AT is in very very good condition with many new parts on it (PS, Shocks, Alternator,CV joints, bearings, brake system, all electrics working and etc) The engine is strong(only 117k with no oil use at all or leaks so far) Do you think that it would be a good idea to just trow it(the car) away and try to buy another cheap one for $3-4k, /not an used Audi for sure/ ?
Thanks for any advice that you can give me. I have to take a decision in the next 7-8 hours, so please replay quick if you can.\
Thanks again.
