Improved Bass response
I have a 95 90Sport with door mounted rear speakers.
I upgraded to a Kenwood Hi-power receiver, but my bass response is still inadequate. I plan to install
a powered Bazooka sub tube. I would love to mount speakers in the rear deck shelf, but it's mostly sheet metal. Anybody got any other ideas or solutions?

Are you sure it's sheetmetal right at the back deck? Usually the sheet metal is a couple of inches lower and you can use top-mounted speakers.

definitely look into adding an amplifier, in addition to your high power deck, especially if you are getting distortion. (remember, even high powered decks, say 4 x 50watts, for example, don't put all of that out as pure power). most people think they have a problem with speakers. really it is most often a lack of power to them. i used to have only pioneer 3way 4 by 10's in the back of my old 16v scirocco, and to my surprise, the bass was more than adequate when i added a 140 watt amp!!
