Oil Pressure light comes on

Oil Pressure light comes on
My oil level is fine and was changed a couple weeks ago. When going around turns or any uneven surfaces, creating any sort of g forces on the car, the pressure light flashes. It did this for a couple weeks before the oil change too. The car runs great but this worries me. Any thoughts? Car is an '88 80 Quattro with 201K ....thanks

Re: Oil Pressure light comes on
If you solve this one, I'd like to know the resolution. This started happening to my 89 100 at about the same mileage ( or maybe a little less ) and I have never found out the exact cause.
The oil pressure gauge on the dash reads normal pressure ranges.
At first I worried about it, and had my mechanic check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. He pronounced the pressure as "marginally low", and proceeded to change the sensor. Problem still continued.
I was encouraged to use only filters that have an anti-flowback valve, which I do. Problem still continued.
I have tried various different weights of oil, from straight 40W Castrol to 5w-50 Syntec, to no avail.
The problem finally went away by itself, but still re-occurs occasionally. There is no pattern as to when it occurs and when it doesn't. It may go on for a few weeks or months, and then never happen again for weeks or months.
The good news is, it hasn't done any harm. The engine now has about 230K miles on it, and has had no oil-related failures; in fact, no engine repairs at all! And, it still runs as strongly as ever.

Re: Oil Pressure light comes on
I've just purchased a '90 100 w/81K miles and I noticed that mine does this at times too. Thanks for the posts and the info...now if I could just figure out why my defroster does exactly the OPPOSITE of defrost the windows I'd be set! LOL
