Default Questions: Check Engine Light

Hello Everyone...

I just got my 89 200 quattro turbo looked over for its 30,000 mile check. The repair shop (who does great work) changed the spark plugs and added a new hose that goes to cool the turbo. After I got it back I noticed everytime I accelrate fairly hard the check engine/emmsions light comes on. It only comes on when I accelrate sort of hard? What gives? What are the problems?

any suggestions would be great

Default Think your going to need someone to read the fault code out for you...

but it kind of sounds like a knock sensor, and Audi does have a kit for certain years (not sure if yours is one of them) to replace the connector on the knock sensor with a gold plated one (the originals got intermittant). The parts are kind of expensive so don't go shotgun it, it is worth it to get the fault code and make sure.

Hay man I think you have a Vac problem. That light only comes on if the Emissions are off,You have a leaking vac. line or a clogged sensor port. You said it happens only on acceleration, Thats says it's vaccume related.The slightest leak or difference in pressure will set light off.Check All of your vac. lines around you EGR valve. Let us know if you find anything.

it wasn't billed out separately, I would call the local Audi mechanic and ask.

The check engine light can be lit for many reasons. Knock regulation may indeed be the cause, as it is not used under about 3000 rpm. Could be as simple as corrosion between the sensor and the block or incorrect torque value.

Go to www.sjmautotechnik.com and review the procedure to get the code "blinked" out, and see what the ECU names as the problem. Don't just start replacing parts.
