Someone out there know how to...
remove the headrests out of the seats? I'm trying to replace some sun damaged headrests, but for the life of me, can't seem to get them to budge...I must be missing something. It cannot be this difficult...it's always the small things huh?...thanks in advance. Headrests belong to an 88 5k...

You have to remove a metal retaining clip that slides through the round plastic piece that 2 posts go through...on the fronts, push down the seat below the plastic, and you should see the clip, it's more exposed on the rear headrests...this is how they come off on my 89 200q, and I remember doing this on an older 4k, so hopefully it'll be the same on your car...

I went through this with my 93 90...
and it is a pain. Mine were put together with a plastic loop that stitches to the leather around the edges. Then, this loop "snaps" into the groove on the main body. When I took mine apart, the main plastic body was shreded as was the plastic loop on the leather cover. The only thing I could do was hand-stitch the leather cover back on to the main body, which took a few days. It doesn't look too bad, but my friends made fun of me for quite a while as I sat there stitching away while they were boozing it up.
