In the good old days I would have brought the tools to fix it and ride it home. But three years of not riding has left me lazy. I have a short trip set up for the end of this month ( 1600 miles, 800/ riding day ) so I best get it sorted.

I had a bike towed last month.
A nail shredded the rear tire. No patching the tire or replacing the inner tube would get it back on the road. So I had it towed. Oh, well. It happens.
