Default Called a friend on the #2 R10 TDI crew...he confirms that the wrong nose

got fitted to the other car...the difference was that the nose was "fitted' to the one car that was to carry a tv camera, hence the weight difference as the camera was not installed in this car. Hope all this makes sense, he said he'd have more to report when he gets home...had to go pack stuff up.

All the podium go to tech post-race IIRC.

Yes, and to answer his question, yes, LMP cars are weighed without the driver.

I wonder what they would do if a sizeable part fell off during a race.

Default That is different and allowed. They then weigh the difference between the damage parts and the

replacement (in general and if possible) and determine the weight.

Remember, the cars go through lots of brake material as well as tires during the race, which take out more weight than you'd think (15-25lbs), so considered as well.

Default I still don't understand how one nose that they must surely have teched could be

that much different, but it's history now. I haven't read anything about Audi trying to appeal. Betchya THAT doesn't happen again. They sure have been bitten by bugs this season. Bad pitstops at Sebring, wheel nut issues, sounds a bit like the type of luck that happens to Kimi, not Audi.

Default None of the issues you cite are really "luck". They are mistakes and there are different people on

the team this year.

They know how much each part weighs to the ounce. They simply made a mistake.

Apparently the issue was one hood was fitted for a camera, one wasn't.

There is no real way to challenge a weight dq, you can't beat math.

Default Thanks. I hadn't seen Pete D's post that the camera hood was the problem,

only that it was underweight.
