Default OK...feeling a little better as the reponses start to vary across the spectrum...

Hans Stuck...not a chance. I'm not teaching, I am going to learn. And I don't want to set any track records. I really want to learn the basics of choosing the right line, throttle steer, proper braking and, for me...the ellusive heel and toe.

I changed the brake fluid (full flush) mid-fall last year. Pentosin Race Fluid from ECS.

So how about a suggestion on pads?

Default I'm not a fan of cross drilled rotors...are the cast or drilled?

I would hope the Brembos are cast but if the wholes are drilled then the rotors are junk. For a DE at noob speeds they should be okay but check them for cracks often.

Your street pads are good and it would be a great idea to bring a new set of street pads with you just in case these are toast for the drive home. Your tires will likely get worn out but they should be good for the entire weekend. Proper inflation is key and watch the tires for cords.

The most important things are mental really. Be realistic about what you are trying to accomplish and have fun. Bring snacks and lots of water, paddock near trees if possible. Get lots of sleep a couple of nights before the event and cut down on adult beverages.

Default I'm not a fan of race/track pads for a newbie.

A noob shouldn't be laying into his brakes that much. If he starts getting fade then that's a lesson to improve braking technique or just slow down a bit.

Default absolutely cast... And, they will be replaced, prbably sooner rather then later- ->

with slotted.

My expectations are low...especially since expectations are premeditated disappointment. Not looking to set any track times other then "fun" times.

I was thinking of trying to make the drive home after the event...after resting a few hours...it's a long ride, but I don't want to kill another day off from work.. Am I going to be exhausted??

And, I don't really trust my front pads..I have been researching a better set of pads then the Porsche street pads...so I may just find a reasonable compromise pads and call it a day

Default A few things to read...

Pearls of wisdom for drivers at any level...

Speed Secrets

(of course there's stuff in there that isn't applicable like passing under braking into a corner,etc...)

Hank Watt's very well written track guides here...

http://www.pca-ggr.org/show.cgi?id=ttvenues</a

Default I'm not a fan of a newbie going to the Glen. that's not exactly a place to push his limits

especially braking with street pads for 2 days.

I'm sure the instructors will keep newbs to a limit, but he should have a set of track pads in his back pocket should he need them on day 2.
