Default Re: what series and class do you plan on racing in?

"Is a 4.2L V8 not available for under $30K, even used? "

Hah. That engine alone is worth $25k or so (new).

Dahlback (http://www.dahlbackracing.se) has gotten 400-500hp out of the 1.8T engine. Reliability? who knows....

Default COM is a good group

But since I've only gotten out to one event in the last two years I'm not going to renew my membership for '07. But I like those guys and know a bunch of the regulars. Good folk.

If you must have AWD for racing, I'd suggest an Evo over Audi

Default Claification

To my understanding the car was originally to be delivered with a KO4 set up which parts are readily available Then the decision was made to use the IHI turbo which meant custom fabricated parts from the UK. There was another delay caused by one of our employees who lost his job over that mess up.

I am sorry, did mean to imply it was your fault.... the delay was a combination of things which were certianly not at all helped by being in the middle of the race season.

Alas the car is in your hands and I hope you are enjoying it:^)

EVO's are good, but not for road racing. Mostly rally, rallycross and parking lot autocross. They will never dominate in road racing because of their front MacPherson suspension, high CG, and a "crossover SUV" style roof height.

I think I am starting to understand this forum format. It took a while.

Default 1.8L, 2.7L, 4.2L, Turbo... How would I get 500+ hp?

How would I get 550-600 HP? I need at least that much to run WC-GT lap times.

Chip ran 2:27 at Road America this year with a restrictor and on 235mm wide tires. I now run 2:35 in my Stealth with a near-stock engine. What would Chip run unrestriced on some wider Toyos?

Champion RS6 ran 2:14 back in 2004. This is what I want! I want to run with Vettes, Vipers and Porsches. :-) Is there an S4 that can match that?

Default Re: so you basically just want the fastest car at the track?

Most wheel-to-wheel racers would agree, technically this is not road racing. But neither are time trials, autocross, drag racing or... (OMG!)... drifting. Nevertheless these are all competitive motorsports events that many people find at least as fun for them.

Personally, I find the engineering that is involved the most interesting. I just happen to know how drive a little bit too, that's all. :-)
