Default best Audi for track use.. tellme

What is the best Audi car for DE events? Modded or not..

Some cars that come to mind:

- S2 or CQ with S2 motor upgrades
- b5s4 stage2 or 3.

What about a purely stock ride?

- 3.2 TT

Why an Audi, just for the sake of the brand?

Default Depends on what turns you on

A CQ with a 20VT will give you lot's of power and a big rush. But an A4 probably would handle better.

I've got a 90 and a CQ with a 20VT, and I love 'em both, but they are both very different cars. Either for me though would be a load of fun at a DE event. I have no idea how competitive either would be, but that's not the point.

Default The less the weight the better!! Much more responive on the track!!!

Also, the lighter the car the less power, brakes and tire you need to go as fast or faster than the competition....

Default Well, there aren't any Audi's that are really ideal track cars, IMO, so go with whatever you love

the most. Keep in mind that a lighter car is going to be more fun and do everything better and cheaper than a heavier one, all other things being equal.

Default Definitely not a B5 S4, I've been down that road.

The S4 has one thing going for it, power. The negatives outweigh that...way too heavy, very poor reliability, crappy brakes. Oh yeah, and it's too heavy.

If you want the quattro and to be true to the brand, I might recommend the VW R32 (it's more audi than most audis). An older, non-turbo audi could be a good move but I don't know much about them.

Default 4kq 20v

Here's the best Audi track car I've ever driven. It's a late 4000 quattro with a 3B engine from a '91 200 20v. Not too bad a conversion actually, using 95% factory parts. This particular car got lots of one-off racing parts including an SCCA legal cage. It was built in Seattle and raced in the NorthWest for several years before the Bennett's turned it over to a guy in NorCal.
