The Miata was too fast? ;-) Kidding. My wife had a 318i. Pretty pokey.

Default BAHAHAHAHA. I wish it was that easy.

...and it's not a midlife crisis; I've always been this way. I had two cars on campus back at UConn in the late 1980's. ;-)

The Robyn problem is easily solved with a nice clean late model A6 (when she's ready - not yet she says). After that it gets tougher.

Agreed that the Suburban and the Nissan should be sold in favor of a single vehicle that can plow and tow, but right now it's cheaper to do nothing. The Nissan is rusty junk; even with the plow it's worth maybe $1000. We all know how soft the market is for used Suburbans with dented passenger doors (note to self: do not park in the driveway behind Robyn). It would actually cost me more to sell both and buy a decent truck with a plow. That day will come, but one of the two has to die to force my hand.

The Miata stays. Once you have a roadster, you cannot be without one...kinda like pickup trucks. Honesty, of all the junk we have, the Miata with the top down makes me smile more than everything else combined.

The A4 avant is a great commuter; factory sport suspension, bulletproof 30v, 5 speed, and invisible to police. This is the car I drive the most.

Really the Coupe should go....but I'm not sure I can do that. The car is too perfect and increasingly rare. Original paint, working everything (including AC), virtually no dings or dents, and even original windshield. This car is a garage queen. I really should sell it or at least pull the plates and park it.

Default if you want to go spec Miata ,call Sunbelt engines ....I have friends at Kinetic so I'm obligated..

to suggest them. They make nice motors.

Default Not a lot.

A year ago I could see myself doing enough track time to get good enough to race a bit, but things have changed and I don't have the time to dedicate to enough practice to get fast enough or good enough. I think 5 two day HPDE events is about all I can manage in given year...and I'm not complaining about that at all. So the car doesn't have to be a race car or even competitive. It just has to be safe and fun. So while it might be cool to build something wild, it will probably be cheaper and easier to buy someone else's work. It would also be more fun to have a car that is on par with some of my cronies.

Default I'm in the same boat (more or less)

as you know, I don't have too much vacation and with the wife and kid, it looks like I'll be getting 3 days a season in.

better than nothing I guess.

If the avant is manual, why not? I do!

Default I would track the avant in a pinch, but I'd want dedicated brake pads and tires...

...at a bare minimum.

Default so what's stopping you?

pads, you could use HP+'s for LRP.or something with a higher operating range for larger tracks.

and as far as rubber goes, the Hankooks are cheap....
