Evo8 runs 1:54 at laguna seca with stock tires/suspension
The car is making about 340hp, but otherwise all he really did in terms of performance was a bigger rear swaybar and better brake pads. I'd love to see what it could do with some track tires, what do you guys think?

I ran 1:53.5 at Laguna in my stock S4...
It was my first time at Laguna, car was stock except for running 225/45/17 Hoosiers on a cold day. Oh yeah, the brakes were warped as hell from Thunderhill the weekend before.
I wonder what THWAP could do there now....
Bryon's done a low 1:49 in our Spec Miata, too.
With track tires, that EVO should be under 1:50 pretty easily, I would think.

street trim vs full on race car...
I guess on the track that doesn't matter, but it's still respectable in my opinion. Sounds like the driver was unfamiliar with both the track and the car, I'd like to see what a more experienced driver could do, especially on track tires.
1/3rd the price of the EVO? Judging by how much money it would cost to do a civic race car like that I'd say more like 1/2 the cost...NASA can probably correct us though.

was $6k total...
we ran it up to $8k with the blueprinted engine which would have probably put us in the 1:48s but we never ran anything but a junkyard motor the one time we ran Laguna.
1:53 is pretty fast for street tires though. Laguna is a HP track though and favors cars that can climb hills hehehe.

Still remember the look...
on a 911 guy's face when, after proudly telling me that he ran a 2:26 at the Glen, I told him that I was turning 26's in my Golf, and there were Rabbits, Golfs and Volvo 142's turning 2:24's.

we got oWn3d like that...
with the Radical. Cracked the 1:54s at Buttonwillow and found out the lap record for D-Sports was 1:47...uh riiiiight. The SR-3's in full C sports trim set a CSR lap record at 1:49:5 and the guy who sells Radicals said he THOUGHT 1:52s would be good for our particular car (more like it).
