Instructor injured in S2000 at Thunderhill?

Yep...
I think I am not instructing any more convertibles unless they have REAL roll bars. This means boxsters, S2000s, Z3s, and miatas.
Rumor is that they are ok.
Here is the email message I got on the raceteachers@yahoogroups.com email list...

The
> instructor's head apparently contacted the track or dirt surface

> the roll, not sure which. Convertibles with "roll bars" below your
head,
> I don't like 'em! The instructor was lifeflighted to the hospital, we

There was an instructor not getting out of a TR6 at CA speedway...
that car hit the wall hard and had it's original seats etc. The guy wasn't moving and the ambulence was on the way.
Don't know anything more about it but it's part of why I don't instruct.

The S2000's A-pillar didn't hold up very well
Here's a picture of the car after the rollover.

The car had almost stopped on the hill at the inside of turn 3. It then rolled downhill, landing back on it's wheels.
For comparison, here's a picture of a Boxster which flew off an 8' embankment, landing upside down.

It's hard to compare the impact, but you would imagine that the Boxster would have taken a harder hit. I guess there's something to Porsche's boron-steel reinforced A-pillars.
