Looks good for a new track in MA
not really breaking news I suppose, but the latest issue of the New England Region SCCA rag lays out the current status of the proposed Palmer Motorsports Park and confirms the rumors that have been around for a while.
The NER had secured an option to buy the parcel in Palmer and has been going through the permitting process in for the last few years and have more-or-less completed it. Getting the permits alone is a big deal, and instead of trying to raise the money to build a track on the cheap, the permitted parcel was sold to Pappas Enterprises which intends to develop pro level circuit, cetified to FIA safety levels, 2.4 miles with a 3000ft front straight. NER gets 5 unmuffled weekends and 5 muffled weekends plus a lot of money in the deal. It's not done until it's done, but Tim Pappas is a racer who owns the Black Swan ALMS team (Ford GT-R cars). Rumor, not in the article, is that they plan a whole resort (& casino?) to go with the racing facility. Sure hope it's true as we have ZERO road racing facilities in MA and I'm kinda tired of NHMS! RIP KAWF |
That's great news! Never too many tracks for us track junkies. Hope it all works out.

RIP KAWF Tim and I have become pretty good friends over the last few years. We met through an acquaintance. Spoke to him last night in fact. I hope this pans out for him. |

I have been to the location and have seen the blueprints. If this all comes about, should be pretty cool.
