Default Re: how do you suppose one gets to win races...

Love to get someone like that to flog my 330i. I want to discover the true limits of my car. Haven't found anyone, instructor or racer, to come within 3 seconds of my times in my 330i...unless I've shown them beforehand what's possible with the car, in which cases the fastest drivers have come within a second or two.

Default Why don't you go do some time trials, show us some results first,

before bothering our "veterans".

"only now learning to drive a stick" hehe

I liked that one

regards,
Liam

Default I'm competing in the Open Track Challenge...

http://www.opentrackchallenge.com

I'm not afraid of real challenges. I'm putting my underpowered automatic and my miserable driving skills up against some of the best on the West Coast and in the country.

I also have a couple of side bets like this going on. I'm supposed to take on a couple of NASA hotshoes (both are NASA series leaders and one is the national chairman of NASA). They'll be in a E36 M3 on Kumhos. I'll be in my 330iA on the "slower" A032Rs. I like my chances. They were running times in a borrowed M3 (with stick of course) almost identical to my times in the pre-modified 330i (stock engine and stock suspension) before their M3 blew its engine.

Default that's because its YOUR car...

nobody in their right mind is going to step into your car and try to drive it 10/10ts...even with your permission.

I mean at least I hope not!

Its pretty ackward to ball up a buddies car...trust me I know ;-P

Default P.S. I'm not claiming to be a "good" driver...

...because to be a "good" driver you do have to be an expert with a stick. I'm just claiming to be very fast in overweight, underpowered RWD automatics. ^_^

Default True, but I ask people to drive it hard...

Even 10/10ths. But these are people I trust to keep the car on the road and includes a former Solo 1 National Champ and a professional test driver for BMW.

Default I think the biggest factor...

...is my soft suspension. Racers just aren't used to it. If a car is bouncing that high, they'd normally be in the middle of a rollover. ^_^

Default I'm definitely gonna have to hide the keys...

If I do let you flog my car, it's only with the proviso that you chant "This is not a 2000-lb. Toyota" over and over again while you're driving.
