Default Open trailer folks, question for you

<center><img src="http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_6ad3bbe1359188be87986a0633b648e7/i-1.JPG"></center><p>is a wood-deck trailer a bad choice? Something like the image below...

I'd love to get a lightweight one (though I've heard some negative comments about them), but can't afford the $$. Is a wood-deck trailer a better/worse choice than all -steel?

Default given that a new diamond-plate metal floor trailer like that is $2k...

I'd say yes.

Default You rang...

The wood floor ones are considerably cheaper...at least when I was looking for a new/used one. That being said..I got mine with a few goodies...beaver tail...tire holder...diamond plate box...and some killer BMW center caps...for $1300. I had to then pay for the straps and other misc hardware. Always remember there are other costs...like wheel bearings...tires...repainting the wood costs (which I need to do very soon).

Default In a lot of ways wood is much better. Apitung or treated yellow pine will last as long

as steel diamond plate. It dosen't rust, it's not as slippery, and you can nail stuff to it. Just use good fasteners to attach it to the frame. Most all of the commercial flatbeds use wood as it dosen't work harden and crack like aluminum.

Default zev...wanna trade some skiis for it?

:-P

Seriously...I asked around...and one of my BMW Club racing friends found a guy selling one in LA. My friend was going down to LA for something..and picked it up for me. Sweet.

There are several web car racing forums that you can list a WTB post on. NASAproracing.com has one...SpecMiata.com....

One of your best ways is to hit Second Creek on Wednesday nights and weekends and just ask people if they know of anyone. Ask Snick Ryder if he knows anyone...I know lots of the Colorado folks probably have his latest email address..or check ot the Motorsport forum for a post by WagonBoy (Nick Snyder)
