Default pics & commentary from the Entropy DE @ Pocono South Course

this was held Saturday and Sunday August 30-31. i was only able to attend Sunday's event.

the course was Pocono's South Course. and was rather technical from my limited track experience. my day was marred by more "limp mode". but i decided to participate for a chance to learn the South course. it looks as if through the help of a new friend, limp mode might be solved; however other issues were discovered. more on that for another post.

comments about the day:

1. i was probably the slowest car in my group. why? yokohama parada spec 2's are teh suck! seriously, i know where near used the full potential of my brakes because these tires are so poor at gripping.

2. given i was the slowest i spent most of the day practicing the line and variations there of.

3. WRX STI's are freakin' fast and very "tossable" in the twisties. you'll see a pic of a young guy and his black 2003. on street tires this thing was killer. i could match his speed on the superspeedway, not pull on him as hard as i tried. and i'm stage II.

4. corvette drivers are my new hated personality. in fact the mustang drivers in my group were some of the most curtious. a nice switch.

5.you'll see a pic of a copper 350Z touring edition with some big Stoptech's. that's the way to go. all the creature comforts of the touring edition with some killer breaks. BTW suspensions on track and touring for the 350Z are the same!

6. now i am seriously considering dumping the RC's for a set of lightweight 18"x8" with some streetable track tires. or just dumping the parada's for a set of Kuhmo's etc.

Default I know I enjoyed myself, except for my limp mode issue late in session #3. can't wait for the video!

I wish we could've gotten your camera into my car for at least one of the afternoon sessions, but we didn't have much time between #3 and #4 since the Race group didn't run.

I would've liked to have some more accurate lap times than the wife of the guy driving the black 5.0 mustang that I was running about the same times as him, especially in the afternoon sessions. We just happen to leave the pits together and swap positions a few times. I would point him by on the speedway, then catch him by the hairpin in the infield section and be all over him before going on the speedway, so he'd point me by thinking I was faster, then he'd gain more speed on me by the end of the speedway and I'd point him back by or wait for the next lap. Eventually, I stopped taking his point-bys and I was happily catching him in the infield. It was a lot of fun. That 911 C was with us for awhile, but he would take us both on the speedway and clearly out brake us going onto the infield. Anyway, the Mustang's wife said we were running average laps of 58-60 seconds and our quickest lap was just over 57. I'm happy with that considering I was running S03s and stock brakes, which faded easily and were toast for the 4th session since there wasn't much time for them to cool off.

I too could do without a red Vette up my tailpipes. Pete was a nice guy, but pushy on track. That STI was impressive as well as the M3 shoe. No one else was passing me during the sessions, so I assume I was keeping pace with the others. I was hoping to get some time near the 350Z with StopTechs at all 4 corners, but the only cars that I was passing at every session were you 3 S4s guys :-) I know I wouldn't have been if you weren't in limp mode. I didn't think I'd be passing Thomaz since he's X chipped and has StopTechs with track pads and ran on saturday. He left after the lunch break, so I assume he was tired and had enough for one weekend. The S4 Avant was comletely stock, AFAIK. For my first time on a rather technical Pocono South course, I was happy with how I was running.

My "limp mode" issue with about 5 minutes left in session #3 found the code "excessive speed" or something like that, which I assume meant that I over-revved it at some point, which I'm sure that I did during a downshift once or twice, but I thought that happened in session #2. Well, I did another few laps with about 7-10psi and couldn't get out of the way of almost everyone fast enough. So, I was about to pit-in when the checkered flag was thrown and the session was over. In the pits, we cleared the code, I took it for a quick test drive around the pits and everything was back to normal for the final session. :-)

This will be my last event for the year, since I'm getting married in less than 2 months. I would like to do EMRA's Time Trials at Pocono North in 2 weeks and Watkins Glen in Oct, but I'm "not allowed" since she fears that I may have a broken arm or leg in the wedding photos :-)

My A4 all clean before going out for the first session:

Default lol. that thing is pretty cool. do they transport the Spec racers with it?

The event was sat and sun, but we were only there on sunday. So, I didn't see where their cars came from.
