Question on trunk mount battery legality for racing?
I'm looking at putting the battery in the trunk, and before I do so, I want to make sure that I wouldn't be turned away from any racing, whether it be SCCA, NHRA, Quattro Club events, etc, etc.
Anyone know? Thanks, |
its shouldnt be a problem as long as its strapped *securely*. the modification would move you up to
a higher racing class tho

Re: Question on trunk mount battery legality for racing?
Most SCCA classes require that the battery and fuel for that matter be isolated from the drivers compartment. If the battery is in the trunk it would need to be mounted in a battery box, or be a gel type, that can't spill. Further, they must be mounted by metal fasteners, and the positive lead must be double insulated. This would be for example the battery box itself, and a rubber boot on the terminal.
Check the specific rules for the class you are running. Something simple like that could also move you from stock/production to modified. |
