Rolex 24 this weekend. Fugly compared to ALMS, but at least it's road racing sports cars.

Default Penske Jump Into GrandAM.....better reason

Roger wants to go to LM and when he plays it's all or nothing. I strongly believe this GrandAM folly is a mere stepping stone while Porsche is working on an LMP1 car that he will run and will win the 24H of LeMans with in 2010 or 2011.

Porsche has 10 works drivers. While Roger retains his best works drivers from the three year deal with the Spyders - Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas, there remains one driver with his schedule not yet finalized - that being Sascha Maassen. Sascha was one of the test drivers for the RS Spyder and would fall into the "good prospect" for the evolution of an LMP1 car. It all makes sense.

Default Fugly YES, but...predictions, race....etc

To me just NASCAR in another costume and second tier racing. With the REAL racing season three months behind us, this "Warm-UP" gets everyone's adrenelin flowing again (despite the consensus of the Fugliness of the DP's and the GT3 or 4ness of the 911's and Ferrari Challengeness of the 430). That being said, our tv is set to record the race and one of the iphones is programmed for live timing while we're at the Stock Show in Fort Worth (more important things in life! llama sale today!)

Onto predicitions. I was VERY pleased to see the #58 Brumos Porsche on pole (my favorite DP) - how great for David Donohue to take pole on the 40th anniversary of his dad winning Daytona (in the "good 'ole days". I'm pulling for them for overall - great team of drivers. Penske keeps his coveted race car number of 7 and is the ONLY DP running the 24h with TWO drivers. In GT, I'm pulling for the #70 Speed Source Mazada - they took pole and what a fitting, honorable way for Sylvain Tremblay (driver/owner) to pay tribute to his wife who was killed in a car accident....GO #70. (besides that, the RX-8 is good!) On the Porsche side, I'm for TRG #67 and Farnbacher #87. Anyone want to "bet" on when Tracy Krohn wipes out? He already had one incident in practice or qualifying...case where money/team owner needs to take the money and hire someone who can drive. I think this year the dominant Ganassi team may have met their match!

Let the racing begin......

Default Starting grid

link -http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=317227&FS=GRANDAM*

the GrandAm entry list had Penske with car #07 and car #16 listed - #16 is the one running in the race so Roger will have Ryan Briscoe with his unbeatable duo of Bernhard/Dumas

Default it was a great finish! (spoiler)

top 4 to be that close to each other at the end of the race.

if they would've setup JPM's car to be faster on the banking, he probably would've won it.
