Stasis differential mod - seeking opinions.......

Phantom Grip looks like an inexpensive solution.
I first saw it in SCC and thought it was a ghetto fix. However I've seen some good reviews since then. I'll give em a call tomorrow to see how much a custom kit for my rear diff will be.

2wd conversion
I'm gonna jump in on this thread and go way off topic. You guys should be able to answer my question. I need to convert my '94 90q (manual) to FWD to get time on the local 2wd dyno. I don't want to drive 6 hours or pay 200$ per hour for AWD dyno time. What does it take to convert my car to 2wd. I have someone that will sell me a damaged buy functional torsen differential that should be all I need to do the conversion. Is it as simple as removing the driveshaft, and welding the center differential solid?

I felt the same way...
Their tech info is drivel. But it looks like you can set the preload to any value you want with different springs.
They have a few good ax supporters which means either big bribes, or it actually works. Some boys are even cad-cam the blocks and doing their own knockoffs. I think even this crowd would like $50 limited slips.

Strangely, none of the technical issues have been answered..
1. How much bias decrease do you get after the unit is run in?
2. How does higher initial bias at low Mu help at all on pavement? Just look at the curves, no difference between the units on pavements.

I called them today....
They said it should be around $299 for the custom application and no more than $349. It's a bit expensive considering the parts that come with the kit - just a few blocks with holes drilled in them and some springs. I think it's still worth it since people swear this stuff works well. Especially when most other disk/clutch type lockers cost around $1000 or more.
I'm gonna pull the diff out and send it in next week and will post my impressions about it. I am not expecting as much difference from this as most 2wd cars get. It definitely would help AutoX and make a center diff mod a sensible upgrade.

1. I don't have any data for this question. I imagine there is a little break-in, but starting with a 4:1 versus a 2:1 will still yield roughly double the bias ratio.
2. Are you assuming that just because you are on pavement that you always have high Mu? Traction on pavement can absolutely be at these low levels, especially while cornering and being hard on the throttle.

How could you not know what the answer to number one is?
All we have to do is ask 4kq what the current bias ratio of a stock A4/S4 is after break in, then we can apply the same ratio. After all, it's the shape of the gear that gives a fixed ratio
