is there a big difference between 4-piston vs. 6-piston brakes?

The plan
is to do all of the NASA time trials starting in March. I'll no doubt miss one or two, but you're given two freebies I believe. I think that series is going to take off towards the end of next year.
Somewhere down the line, finish the front half of the cage and put a cell in it and go run ITE.
In the meantime I'll try to make a good showing at next year's OTC and we'll see about one lap.

ok, so you DO want more pedal travel?
man, this online talking is the suck sometimes.
As far as I know, all the cars are running the 25.4 mm master cylinder now. The RS6 has a similar part number, but doesn't have the 25.4 remark so I can't say for sure but I bet it's 25.4 as well. Could check one out and see. Another model would be the 2004 A8's to see what they run.
Otherwise I think the biggest Audi one of late is 25.4. I would call the parts department and have them check the size on the RS6 and the new A8 master cylinder sizes, the rest of the model lineup isn't going to help you.
I'll only upgrade to a 14" kit when I can get a 17x8.5" light wheel that will clear a 14" brake kit (so basically a Volk Racing wheel that doesn't exist). Of course, I could make my life a whole lot simpler and convert my hubs to 114.3 PCD.
Best of luck, and good luck with the time trials.

*sigh* no.
The pedal is traveling too far now. It needs to be much firmer.
Okay, feel free to give me a ring whenever. 661-301-0246
Thanks a lot for the master cylinder suggestions! That's a big help.
114.3, is that a porsche bolt pattern? I'd rather have a wide five hub on a tube frame :/
In the end I think we may have chosen the wrong project car

Won't he be running unlimited?
I'll be on the very thin edge of B, which is for factory Z06's and vipers on R compounds and minor work. So I better not get over zealous cause then I'll need to severly step up to the plate... unlimited is the next class up for me.
I have yet to run all of this by Ryan Flaherty... I believe he makes the call in the end. Although Gary is the Time Trial director?

heh, without looking at the specs...
it was sounding like you were running pretty unlimited yourself there.

that's japanese PCD, I like Volk Racing wheels...
they make a bitchin 17x8.5 or 9 gram light forged one piece. I also like the TE/LE 37 for a street wheel and the CE28N.
Ok, here is my last attempt at understanding your brakes (j/k):
You need to run the larger piston front to keep the balance in check. But as a result, you have more pedal travel then you'd like.
You can't swap to the smaller piston fronts cause then you'll be over balanced in the rear, though you will shorten pedal travel.
So instead you're thinking swap in a larger master cylinder to push more fluid and shorten it up while maintaining the balance you have right now front to rear.
Ok, how was that? Am I even getting close?
I'm not looking to compete like yourself (though I give you the huge thumbs up for the effort), I just like playing around with the car. I don't plan on getting rid of the S4, I think it's a great balance between performance, utility, and a good build/interior layout. It gives you enough to play around with and tweak which I like.
I mean doesn't Dodge sell the Viper CompCoupe for people who don't want to "play around" and just get out there and be competitive. If all the makes could be so thoughtful about motorsports.

Yes, you got it!
haha, but I still might be screwed if I can't figure out the master cylinder.
Bob Lee was talking about possibly going to a two piston rear... might be a good idea.
Anyways, if you figure out any cool track wheel deals, let me know. I'm assed out for the time-being. I need something light in at least a 8.5" width. (17 inch diameter of course).
Yeah, comp coupes are nice... and have you noticed that Ford Performance Parts are selling the new mustang body in whites for ~2800 bucks? Why am I screwing with this car?

Yeah, I'm one point away from TTA (unlimited)
And that's with me holding back on the lexan windshield and breaking into the motor to do cams, etc... I suppose I can keep the stock hood and get another point back.
I guess that guy with the STI did alright last season in TTB; nice times around buttonwillow.

wheel options are the suck...
...i think a hub conversion is the only option.
The guys at Matrix in Oregon converted the hubs on an A4 to 114.3, so it's possible. I *THINK* our hubs are a solid flange thickness. So you *COULD* have a machne shop drill a set to another bolt pattern and create hub centering rings to adapt Audi to whatever.
But I *KNOW* the new (B6 cars) hubs are not a solid flange, they are a star (*) pattern reinforced at the lug hole only and thin elsewhere. So no dice there on strength.
Check out the gram light, they even have your size:
Volk Racing Gram Light 57F (forged 1 piece)
17x9.5" ET 15 or 22 or 38 --- 15.7lbs. (114.3 PCD)
17x8.5" ET 40 or 45 --- 13.8lbs. (100 PCD)
17x8.5" ET 22 or 30 or 40 --- 13.8lbs. (114.3 PCD)
<img src="http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/datas2/GRAM/040_57F/logo.jpg">
That's my pick for a track wheel. In silver of course, though bronze wheels on the track on some color cars can be track pimpin'.
