Trailer towing your A4? Know about some built-in tie down points?

I don't know if there is anybody who tows their A4 to track events, but if you do, don't know if you know about some tie down points underneath the car. These were used by the flatbed tow truck to transport my '98.5 Avant to a dealer when the water pump blew. There is NO mention of these anywhere in my owner's manual, but the tow truck driver knew the car had them.

Just inside of each wheel, along and inside of the flange where the jack would normally go, there are slots for the towhook chains that flatbed tow trucks use to tie down a car. These are covered/hidden by rubber covers that look like a flattened oval aobut 6" long by 1" wide. You must remove these rubber covers to see the tie down points in the unibody. Might try to find them and see if you can use them for your trailer tie-down points if you're presently using suspension tie-down points.

That's what we use to haul my S4 around

I think that is also how they're transported when they're new. We have these T-hooks that go into those points attached to standard towing straps.

Handy little things, aren't they?
