Default What's up with the new F1 tire rule?

Have to run two different compounds during the race? What's that supposed to accomplish?

Default it seems like it's supposed to do the oppostite and make the race more of a strategical..

win/challenge. i dont think the rule is supposed to help them accomplish.

Default Bridgestone wants to be part of the story... it adds a strategical element to the race

and thus the tires will be talked about in the paddock and the media.

Default Bridgestone pushing it make senses to me

As for the (contrived) strategic element, I think everyone but Trulli ran the hards last in Malaysia, plus the 'hard compound' wasn't much slower than the soft. I don't think it did or will add much strategically.

Default I think it will be a factor if a team runs an one-stop strategy race

or if there's unsteady weather/track conditions. I'm thinking it'll be a deciding factor in at least one of the races this season, but we'll see.

Between the two compounds there was about a 1.0 sec difference in lap times during the practice sessions which is pretty significant, wouldn't you say?
