Ya know, I was willing to give Hamilton some slack, seeing as how he was a rookie and all, but...

Hmmmmm. Any you know this from where? Which tests were you at?
Or perhaps you read something on the net and took it as gospel.
I don't even like Kimi, but posts like this, as if they are fact, are pretty poor.

So what should be printed is not based on what sells, but what one person things is right to
print?
I cannot believe anyone would assert that they should be able to tell someone when they get to write their autobiography.
Hamilton has had more visibility, more fans and accomplished much more in his young life than tons of other racers who have written autobiographies.
Where is the condemnation for these books?
Should we have an international panel on when it's ok for each person to write their autobiography?
Or perhaps it's best to put it out there and see if it sells, as it's a product like any other. Saying it's not appropriate or not necessary is an opinion that, if it sells well, will be proven in the large minority.
Have you been to Europe or even England since "Hamilton Fever" has struck? Do you think Hamilton or F1 care about what our tiny F1 market thinks?
His book is simply a product. If it sells, there existed a desire for the product and it filled a void.
Simple.

You're taking this far too seriously. Are you two in bed or something? I just think it would
have more substance in a year or two when hopefully the scandals of this year don't matter, and hopefully never repeated. Again, I am not slamming Hamilton's talent, great season, or the many great things he accomplished, and will likely continue to do. If you read this far down, read my other posts complimenting Lewis before getting your butt-hairs tangled up.

Why though?
I mean seriously, he's had an amazing season. There are tomes written on people who've done less in a single season (or careers - See: Wayne Rooney) of just about any sport.
I mean for crying out loud, there are half a dozens books on Sidney Crosby and he's only in his 2nd NHL year.
<a href="http://www.harpercollins.co.uk/books/default.aspx?id=40405" target="_blank">And who says it's only about this season?</a>
It'll be a fluff piece, but so what. Show me an authorized "biography" that isn't.
I just love how this thread is arguing about the content of a book nobody has seen anything other than an excerpt.

On a lighter note on this thread, who has purchased driver autobiographys or bios?
First one was Jim Clark at the Wheel, then another Jim Clark one post mortem, Mark Donahue's "Unfair Advantage," then Ayrton Senna, Kyle Petty, and most recently Mika Hakkinen. I reckon I'll get a Kimi one, even though it will probably not be much more than a Reader's Digest pamphlet since he likes to talk so much.

Zanardi...and lots of coffee table books on racing. Some of the drivers
do write very well. Hoping that McNish will write a book...and Randy also writes well. At least on their websites. I also buy auto racing books for gifts.

Zanardi. That would be go for so many reasons, his spectacular comeback and all.
I'll bet it's funny too. I also have "Sunday Driver" by Brock Yates, which was cool for me bcus it mentions Jim Shane, one of my fellow racers and Bondurant instructor at Ontario Motor Speedway same time I was there...for a month before they moved north. I'll bet McNish could write a killer book.
