***Sorry this took so long, but here is a recap of last night's GTG*** <edited>

Great turnout, I am not sure the exact number of cars that showed up, but I think around 60 or so is my best estimate. My apologies if I did not get a chance to meet some of you...between setting up, doing a few attempts at VAG COM, getting the judges going on the cotest, etc., it left me little time to do real socializing.

First, a few thanks to those that donated prizes:

<a href="mailto:Phil@eastarsinc.com">Phil Yiu</a>, the Northeast distributor of Adams Polishes, made a generous donation of the $150 detail bucket grand prize. I wanted to keep that for myself!

Seth Marshall from <a href="http://www.bernardiaudi.com/en_US/">Bernardi Audi</a> in Natick for the donation of the various Audi logo line hats, ketchains, mugs, etc. There are a "few" leftovers for the next event :)))

SmokinS4™ arranged for two pairs of wheel storage bags from <a href="http://www.rimandwheelworks.com/">Rim and Wheel Works</a> in Waltham.

Lastly, &lt;forgive me, I have forgotten again his name&gt; a local B5 S4 owner donated a USB memory stick and a mouse to the prize pool, and I dontaed a couple of bottles of detailing products from Lexol and Meguiar's.

The pizes:

So, after setting up camp, the judges went to work on their....judging. We had scored all the attendees for exterior and interior appearance/condition/mods, as well as a score for general "curb appeal."

I took very few pics of my own, so I stole a few from you folks. I have a couple of additional pictures, but I left the camera at home. I will update this post later.

The winners were:

<b>S4</b> (including all B5/B6/B7 platforms)
A sweet Imola B7 S4 that came up from NYC to visit the GTG...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/UnosGTG2.jpg">
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/UnosGTG9.jpg">

<b>A4</b> (including all B5/B6/B7 platforms)
A nice B7 A4 S-line...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/UnosGTG1.jpg">

<b>C5</b> (including A6/allroad/S6/RS6 models)
SouthboroAudiGuy's shiney 2.7T (Okay...I did beat him by 4 points despite his bribery attempts...see below...but in the end I disqualified myself)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/SBAG.jpg">
Oh, and Tom, we BOTH scored a 9 and 10 on exterior and interior, but it was the "curb appeal" that was the tie-breaker (my 19 vs. your 15), so get those 4.2 doorblades and that RS6 spoiler on!!!
Here are his bribery offerings...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/SBAG_Bribery_2.jpg">

<b>TT</b>
A sweet, but sinister-looking, TT...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/UnosGTG6.jpg">

<b>"old school"</b>
The red Ur Quattro that left early, so no pic, sorry...

<b>A3</b>
By default, the lone A3 that showed
&lt;anyone have a pic of that car???&gt;

Of course, the Imola B7 S4 also took the grand prize for the best of the model contest winners, and took home the detailing bucket. That person also won the Best Wheel category with the 19" BBS RS-GT's (Man I want those wheels), adn took home the wheel bags. Basically, he cleaned up the prize pool, but now is ineligible for any future prizes in those categories as a result! :)))

Oh, and if anyone challenges the results...just look at the pics posted...it was probably the MOST photographed car, so that speaks volumes as well!!!

After the various looking around, VAG COM stuff, etc. most went into Uno's for some food and drink, only to be "interrupted" by the fire alarm. Several folks went outside, my table chose to stay and eat...we were hungry!

Thanks again to all who came to this event! Hpefully, I will see you all soon, but this is the last oneI am planning for 2006. I'll leave the GTG planning in the good hands of A4AdMan to finish out the year!

Nice recap. And another great event.

Just the right size for the space we had.

I already have some thoughts for an October GTG but I need to see where things with "the hunt" go over the next few weeks before I commit to anything.

Great event, thanks for putting it together!

Hey, any thoughts on doing the color-match grill strip?

Saw a few version of that on the B7 S4 forum (not on Imola but other colors) and I think it looked nice! I would do that if I ever go to the C6 platform.

Great turn out! Very nice rides in all categories, and perfect weather to boot.

Anyway you can shoot me over the VAG-COM file?

Looking forward to the next one!

ClemS4 08-09-2006 01:19 PM

Great event as always Henry. Thanks.

Boston Driver 08-09-2006 01:27 PM

Tom, I will send it later...left the laptop at work today.

SouthboroAudiGuy 08-09-2006 01:39 PM

I repeat... Those were not bribes!

Merely a show of deep appreciation for the hard work and excellent judgement of our judging officials. Anything wrong with that? :-P

My thanks for your gracious "concession" -- getting within 4 points of the mod king is certainly a victory in itself (how does one compete with carbon fiber and an alcantara headliner?). That said, will get to work on those door blades and spoiler.

Kudos for doing a great job on the event. Your efforts are certainly appreciated and we all benefit from them. FWIW, I'd be happy to help in any way with the next gathering.

DELUX1 08-09-2006 01:46 PM

Great GTG!

I had a good time, I wish I had gotten a chance to talk to more people though.

Boston Driver 08-09-2006 01:50 PM

LOL! Well, since you are offering...

please give A4AdMan a hand at the next one. He will be planning the next GTG. I am done for the year. I just wish I had finished the RS6 side skirt coversion for this show.
