Any reason why car rental companies won't give under age 25 luxury cars? in MA only? (more)

Drop off my car last night at Clair for service and had a loaner waiting. There was a new girl at the rental counter and she said, "since you're under 25, I can't give you a luxury car. I can only offer you a Toyota Corolla." I said, is this a new policy or something? You guys normally give me something comparable, usually an A4. My service advisor called her manager and asked if it was a new policy too as he was very surprised.

Apparently, this has always been the policy and the other lady who is usually working the rental counter just gave me Audis anyway. The rental manager said its something to do with liability, that if I get into an accident, their insurance won't cover it. Why have insurance then if it doesn't cover a car? Is there a big difference between them covering a Corolla versus a A4? Its my policy that is covering the rental car, as they don't offer rental insurance.

Just curious. It was funny, my advisor talked to the girl and said, "he's good friends with Joe Clair, etc" to try and get me into something nicer. I've met him once :p

But at least I got a 2006 Toyota Corolla with 2200 miles to get me places! w00t.

Your insurance covers you on their car. That's BS.

It may be their policy, but that's not the reason.

That's what I thought as well. Perhaps it was the new girl wanting to follow procedures, can't

blame her for that. Oh well, we'll see about next service.

I have never had any problems getting an A4. Interesting, Ive never dealt with any rental car person their either. My Service Advisor just gives me the keys and tells me to go out front. :-\
