Default ATTENTION: MAJOR SPEED TRAP ALERT!!! RT. 3 South between Concord Rd and 62.

Boston Driver just called me from the road to say that the staties are out in full force on Rt.3 on the Burlington/Billerica line. They had 15 cars pulled over. Cops on both sides of the Southbound lane pulling people over left and right.

So watch yourself on RT3 this afternoon.

That is all.

P.S. Don't worry BD did not get a ticket.

Default SUV local cops too

I saw one last Sat. around 5pm in a whitish Ford/Chevy SUV.

The BD trap sounds like an all out crack down, most likely because it's a newly paved and wide open highway. They have more targets there than on 128 which is too crowded to orchestrate a massive group pullover and ticket. I assume the trap was at a straight, open area; not like they are hiding behind bridge abutments, which they will eventually no doubt.

I am now gliding in comfort however; just picked up an Escort Passport 8500 for 1/3 of the new cost. I highly advise anyone who doesn't already have a V1 or better to make this investment. I now am honing in on the exact frequencies and bands with the expert mode of the 8500. Man is this fun!

Default Yeah, my Passport 8500 X50 picked them up very early...

X-band, but I saw it on the way up Route 3 as well, so I knew it was there. Boy, did they pick a good spot! LOTS of cars pulled over. I thought it was an accident in the median when I was going up to Chelmsford.

Default First they set the speed limit at 55 through there -

- now it's apparently time for the revenue generating machines to recoup the cost of the widening project

Default PS> if they were truely using Xband only, that's really sneaky.

you have to wonder about the speed limit being 80% of the traffic flow when they pull over so many people. wow.

Default With all due respect, the friggin cops ought to notice they

backed up traffic from Billerica to the Burlington mall. WTF?? I know speeds are getting up on rt. 3, but the constables should excercise a little bit of intelligence - don't do it during rush hour! It cost me 20 extra minutes at least. Do the math (maybe I obsess over these things too much!)...

3 lanes of traffic for about 8 miles for about an hour. 20 minutes to get thru the traffic. Allowing 60 ft/car, in one hour 5,500 cars would crawl past the Southbound radar trap in the Northbound lanes. So 5,500 x 20 wasted minutes = 1,800 hours wasted x an average wage of $40/hr = $72,000 wasted per hour for the speed trap to bag 30 cars or so at $100/car. Good investment! I'll bet they're proud.

(I saw an unfortunate black A6 bagged at about 4:30 - one of us??)
