Default Fan question....

My car has been sitting awhile because we went down to one car in our household (until I'm employed again that is). Now I idle her every few days or so and i move her around the lot just to keep things moving. Now when she gets up to temperature and the fan click on, It seems the idle drops a bit now. It almost seems like it wants to stall but it doesn't. Now last year, I went through all the connections and lubed the connectors and contact with dialectric grease. So I dont think it is a corroded contact issue. I'm wondering if its just because it hasn't been active that much. What do you guys think?

Default I think you are probably doing the worst thing you can for that car.

The car can sit without issues or preparation for a month or more. If you are going to start the car, it really should be driven at speed for a few minutes. It should also be allowed to fully come to temp - at least 30 minutes.

Let the car sit. Every 2 or 3 weeks fire it up, run it for half an hour, then take it for a quick blast.

I agree, if not put some fuel stabilizer in it, run for a few, then disconnect the batt.

Default I'm not a big fan of disconnecting the battery either. The control units in the car...

...will all reset and you be doing throttle body adaptation, radio code, training remotes, seat memory, etc.

If you're worried about battery life, go with a float charger, but a good battery should have no problems sitting for 2-3 weeks.

Default really? how long does it have to be disconnected for when you start having to do all that?

This car in question though is 20 years old, so, I don't think he has to worry about that, I maybe wrong though you never know with audis lol
