Default H-Sport Sways installed last night. Happy, Happy , Joy, Joy

The local crowd that doesn't troll on the B6 A4 board, here is my post from my H-Sport DIY installation.

After purchasing a slightly used set of H-Sport S4 front and rear sway bars back in May the stars finally aligned tonight where I had the opportunity to get with my mod mechanic (Boston Driver) and we got these babies installed.

There have been some very detailed tech write ups on this installation so I will not take you though the step by step process. If you wish to know how we did it, Cyberpmg's has a detailed write up from Audizine that he paosted earlier this year which we referenced for the install.

The installtion was pretty straight forward. I drove the car up a pair of Rhino ramps and away we went. The front bar is actually a very install. Boston Driver, who had performed a front and rear H-Sport installtion on his C5 A6, commented several times that working under the B6 A4 was considerably easier than his A6. The the most time consuming element was removing and re-installing the plastic belly pan. The one item that made installing the front a bit interesting was part was through the installation we got a pretty steady sun shower. So we were dry from the waist up but pretty wet from the waste down. Thankfully the rain didn't last to long. We took a break after doing the front sway to have a quick bite to eat while the rain subsided.

Once the front sway was in I took the car for a quick spin and noticed that the front seemed a little tighter. The overall improvement was yet to come in the form of the rear sways which were next up.

After getting the back of the car up on the Rhino ramps and lowering the rear of the stock exhaust we each got under and took a look at the job in front of us.

Not alot of space under there to work within but with the right length socket tool what seemed difficult turned out to be pretty straight forward, just a little time consuming. The hardest part was getting the end bolts off initially, but after some work they eventually came loose and we were off and running. With the assistance of some work lights under the car to help us see what we were doing we finished the job at 9pm.

This is a mod that someone could do by themself but having a second person to help get the old bars out of position and the new ones in position is certianly a good idea and will make things go faster.

After the rear was complete we took the car for a brief spin to try out the new sways and feel the difference vs. my stock non-sport rear sway which measures in at 15mm versus the 24mm rear S4 H-Sport sway.

My drive home was very enjoyable especially when I hit the first highway on ramp and could keep that front right tire glued to the inside line on the onramp. I did notice in addition to the less body roll that the car also seemed to gain a bit more stiffness up and down which is something that I didn't expect.

Many, many, many thanks go out to Boston Driver who lended his assistance as well as his tools to get the job done.

This mod is certainly going to make driving my 3.0 more fun.

Welcome aboard! I noticed a difference, from my previous PSK rear bar upgrade, right away.

Default Ted, you know that it does not involve any electronics, right?

j/k - If you need a hand with the install, I would be glad to help any way I can. The A6 is a major PITA to do. Dave's A4 was SO much easier than the A6!

Default ROTFLMAO!!!!! To "You know it doesn't involve any electronics, right?"

Ah but Ted could probably figure out a wat to attach some sensor to the sways and wire it up to the dash/nav screen that would tell him some sort of interesting read out. hehehehehe

Default I didn't find it to be a difficult install at all. Followed a great write-up.

But that also could be because that I did it with the car on an alignment rack. I imagine it would have been much harder doing it on my back w/ramps.

Default Yeah, Chipcase's wrietup is great, but it always helps...

to have an extra set of hands to hold something up while you are bolting something down, or in the case of the sway installation, it definitely helped to have someone hold down the exhaust to get the old bar out and the new bar in. Also, it is nice to have someone hand you a tool that is out of reach.

Must have been nice to work over your head on a lift. Yes, that would be MUCH easier, but we all don't have connections like that, eh?

Default since I was the "skinny" guy who had to crawl under the middle of the car to unbolt the hangars

there, I'll confirm that "HELL YEAH" it would be a lot easier on a lift!

Anyway, I too will offer to help if teddy needs a hand... at a minimum I could drink a beer or two whilst watching everyone else work!

Grape: Always could use someone to turn the next page of the write-up package.

Default Family is a wonderful thing. Isn't it?

But, I only use them and their resources when:

I need a lift. (brother)
I need a set of new tires. (brother)
I need a flat repair. (brother)
I need an oil change. (brother)
I need an alignment. (brother)
I need a set of wheels mounted/balanced. (brother)
I need an Audi part (brother-in-law).
I need a VW part (brother-in-law).
I need tie-rods installed. (brother)
I need an entire suspension installed (actually paid for that one) (brother)
I need the dealer cost for a car @ Bernardi
(brother-in-law) or Lee Imports (sister)

and that's just this year.
