Default Help in Northeast

Hopefully I don't get in trouble wan't sure where to post this? Here or in the 1.8 forum.

Our 2002 avant is having some problems. We just brought it into the dealer were quoted $1200 to replace a Thermostat switch and RPM sensor! Can I do this myself? I am somewhat mechanically inclined but haven't worked on this car. FYI we bought it new in 2002 and it now has 80,000 miles on it. (Also anyone know a good indy on the North Shore of MA.? Ipswich area?)

Default have you had the timing belt replaced?......

if you're going to work on the car yourself i'd get a bentley's manual first.

Default it's time!.....

general practice here is to do the belt and waterpump at 60K or 4 years. you're well past due for major maintainance. these people have reasonable rates and let you bring your own parts. it may be a drive for you. purems.com is a good place to start for parts.

http://statusautoservice.com/</a

Default Fastrack Service in Peabody.

The dealer is CRAZY to charge that much, and you're crazy if you pay it. Give these guys a call. I suggest you get the parts yourself and then have Fastrack install them. Internet access for your laptop in their waiting room too.

Link
