Default Just got back from Whistler, WOW what a mountain

I went out there with the family for a week. We got to spend some time in Vancouver and it is a cool city. I really liked what I saw of it. We spent most of our time in the downtown/westend area. We also checked out UBC and Chinatown. UBC seemed nice all the dorms or on the water and there were amazing views to be had every where. But enough of that, the drive up to whistler on the sea to sky highway was awesome as well. I love seeing the mountains just disappear into the ocean.

So once we finally got to whistler we had 6 days of skiing and it was awesome. The mountain was unbelievable. I loved it. The terrain was steeper then most of the areas that I would ride at breck and vail. There was however one problem lack of snow. By the end of the trip there were rocks everywhere. I think I might need to do some work with the ptex on the base. But even though there was no fresh snow, the snow that they had was amazing, much better then skied off Coorado snow. We were lucky and have 6 days of blue skies and sunshine, it was unbelievable especially after hearing some horror stories about the weather/fog at whistler. By far my favorite area of the mountain was the blackcomb glacier. It had great snow and was just an amazing place. I brought two boards, but ended up just riding my Burton hero(155) all over the mountain, I planed on using a bigger board (158) if there was fresh snow. here is a picture of the glacier.

Definitely my favorite spot on the mountain. I also enjoyed the symphony amphitheater, 7th heaven, and the harmony area. I also spent a little time in the parks during the last day since the snow conditions were deteriorating and I wanted to hit some jumps. There parks were awesome.

I also took the peak2peak gondola which is new this season. It connects Whister to Blackcomb and at its highest point it is somthing like over 1000' above the vally floor. It was pretty cool.
Here is a view of the town from about the middle of the span

Overall I have to say Whistler is the best mtn I have snowboarded at. I can only imagine how much better it is with snow. Oh by the way anybody have hot waxing tools like an iron/scrapper I could borrow, my base hates me right now....HAHA

Vancouver is one of my favorite cities. Really cool how the architecture looks against the water and mountains. If I was ever to move to Canada I'd want to goto BC.

Default for food we went to Umberttos trattoria, Bavaria, Splitz grill, Sushi village

and we ordered in avalanche pizza on night, we also cooked some food.

as far as night life I did not partake since I was with the family and there was no one to go out with.

Harmoney was sweet. I did not get to do much out of bounds though.

Default Did you hit up the ladder?

I rode it last year and it was one of the steepest trails I ever rode. On the second time through I lost my edge and flipped 12 times down it. Nothing broken except one of my p-60's. Got it all on tape as well.
