Default reccomended place to have AC recharged?

been driving the honda in the warm weather so I haven' noticed that my AC is very weak until a road trip this weekend. About how much does it cost? Thanks.

if you don't need to evacuate the system, a 32oz recharge kit with a gauge runs $30 AR at autozone

I think that would be a wasted $30.00, evacuation and proper fill pressures are mucho important imo

Default how much to have a shop do it?

if it's cheap, I'd rather let someone else do it.

Default if there's a leak, evacuation does not make sense. the gauge can help with proper pressures

system pressure varies based on ambient temperature, and there's a range; not an absolute value like a torque setting.

the gauge shows the pressure and ambient temperature and a variable dial that can be set to the ambient temp which then shows the pressure range.

i think evacuation is only necessary after a repair to the a/c system. if the system has lost pressure due to minor leaks, a recharge could be sufficient.

i'm not an a/c expert, so that's pretty much my opinion. if i'm wrong, i'd like to be corrected.

Default I made an appointment at Fastrack for thursday

I actually just found out a friend has the kit to refill the system, but I don't want to deal with it.

Default last i checked they were not qualified for a/c repair, but did recharge as favors to known customers

although now that i'm thinking that may have been last summer. wow.

did they bring in a qualified a/c person recently?

Default i didn' ask that specifically

I just asked Scott if they did them, and he said yes. I asked how long it would take, and he said up to an hour depending on if they found any leaks etc. So it sounds like they do a comprehensive job. Not just a quick refill. That is all I know.
