I recently moved to Watertown MA from Vermont and I am looking for a reliable mechanic to do some work on my 98 A4. Anybody have feedback good or bad? Thanks

Some years ago, I took a Mustang Cobra there (before I was enlightened and switched to Audi) for a rear end gear swap. Maybe they didn't know American Iron as well as they said they did (I guess the shop name should have been warning enough) and it ended up costing me over $1,000 in LABOR ONLY for a job that should only cost a few hundred because they didn't know what they were doing. Said things like the "bolts from Ford were too short and we had to re-do it..." or some such thing. While I was there, some other shop employee was yelling at a customer on the phone, arguing over a bill. I never went back, and won't.

Don't misunderstand me - LFCG did the job correctly in the end. But I paid dearly for their on-the-job training and didn't feel like I was treated fairly. Others may have very different experiences, this is just my experience and opinion.

On the other hand...I've taken my Passat and my old '01 S4 to Shine Racing several times. I recommend them. They're not cheap, but I've never had a "surprise" where they seriously exceed their estimate. The work is good there, too.

I've heard other recommend Brian's Garage in Needham, but I have no experience with that shop.
