Head up towards the mountain and go thru the pass...
Seriously twisty stuff there - but be warned - lots of blind corners and it's only 1.5 cars wide in some places! Once you get past the notch there are lots of good roads that lead up towards lake Champlain. I was just on a lot of them this past summer, but can't remember the exact route I took. Just plot out a looping track on a map up to the lake, stop for dinner or lunch or whatever, and head back to Stowe by a different route. I doubt that you will be dissapointed.

If you are coming from NYC...22A to 17 to 100. Rt 17 heading towards Waitsfield...
was paved over the spring and is a wonderful drive. You can also get to 17 if you are on Rt 7 heading north.
Check out my X-post below from yesterday on another twisty drive that will get you to RT 100 coming from Middlebury. 100 is where you want to eventually end up, however.

Clicky!

Take the Stowe/Waterberry Exit on the 89 and head twords stowe..
follow the road into town, and when you hit the center of stowe take a left at the first stopsign and head up the Mountian Road. follow that up and it winds up a mountain notch. Very nice drive.
