Default Audi A5 2.0 TFSI oil consumption problems.

Hi,

I purchased a 2009 A5 2.0 TFSI, in June of this year (second hand of course). I noticed within the first month or so that it was taking A LOT of oil (I hadn't previously known there was a known problem with the consumption of this model as I would have thought twice about buying it). I took it to Audi and they noted that it was leaking oil and promptly tried to get me to pay for the leak to be repaired (they hadn't mentioned the 'goodwill gesture' that they apparently offer to have it repaired considering the ongoing problem that the engine has). I decided to leave it and think it over as it would have cost a lot to have it repaired. I then took it to another non-affiliated Audi specialist to get a second opinion who told me that I should go back to Audi and quote the 'goodwill gesture' scenario as they will probably have a responsibility to fix the problem.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has had the same issue. It also looks like I have a coolant leak too so wondered if there could be a knock-on effect here. I'd love some advice as it seems its going to cost ££££ to have the car repaired and I only bought it a few months ago.

Thanks

Dave
