Hello, new member and (possibly) new Audi owner here, from Virginia.

I've been looking at a 2-year old A6 with the Certified Pre-Owned tag. Love the car. Big concern is, however, scheduled maintenance. The CarFax is clean, but doesn't show ANY maintenance. My understanding is that CarFax doesn't get info from everyone. The dealership says they don't have the maintenance records because they aren't the ones who sold (or rather leased) the car originally. The maintenance record book is blank, no stamps. So my question is, how can the seller certify the car without knowing the maintenance records? Not sure I want to plop down $38k on car that might not have been maintained properly, even if it does have a warranty.

Thanks for any advice. Never bought a car via a CPO program before.

Bentley, welcome aboard! Do you know how many miles are on the car? Which engine?


The dealer would be able to grab the warranty claims charged against the VIN. That would be a start and could contain key bits of info. Did the car have the prepaid maint. plan from Audi?


I'm willing to believe that the dealer will get the service records from the other dealer if you explain to them that it's a deal-breaker

35k and the 3.0 V6.

No warranty claims, as those would show up on Carfax. More concerned about the scheduled maintenance. So dealers can get that from other dealers? I'd always assumed they were all linked together (and I guess they are for warranty work) but that doesn't seem to be the case.
