replace 2016 Audi A6 bose subwoofer
I love my 2016 Audi A6 but 2 years in I was fed up with the Bose system subwoofer (and this last should be in parentheses! It's a 1 lb worthless piece of paper with inverted cone/magnet configuration and a voice coil slightly bigger than my thumb; there are pics online).
So I replaced it. With an (infinite baffle rated) driver, a amp, and an . I didn't install them myself but paid a pro, $300, and he completely covered the rear deck with DynaMat as well. Once I got the cross-over adjusted (150 htz, basically relying on the Bose head unit, which has one built in), wowsers! Bose, no highs or lows perhaps, but now I've got the lows, and since I'm ancient can't hear the highs anyway. The LC2i is important because, in addition to converting a high level signal from the head unit to low level, it also adjusts for the Bose system ramp-down of bass with increasing volume. This down-ramping of bass with increasing volume is in place because the ludicrous Bose 'sub' must be protected; and it is! It produces practically no bass at higher volumes, but somewhat more, relatively at lowest volumes (but never tuneful at any volume).
Now listening to jazz, I've got a tuneful bass line, and on rock, same, and on both a kick drum sound to die for (almost as good as my home theater Stereophile A rated full range system).
I worried that some crazy equalization built into the Bose head unit would compromise the base which I had to tap out of the high level signal to the original subwoofer, but no. Thanks Bose!
Can't rate it for rap, sorry.
