Default Need a good mechanic in SF Bay area

I need new head gaskets. The timing belt and associated parts must of course be done at the same time.

Due to lack of suitable space (no private garage, but one shared with other cars, with a watchful landlord), I cannot do this myself where I live. Does anybody know a reputable shop in the SF Bay Area where they know their way around a '96 A4 with the V6 12 valve engine? I do know an independent shop, but there they are not familiar with this engine, and they quoted me over 20 hours labor. I really need someone who has worked on this engine before. I prefer a place in or near SF on the peninsula. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I thought they were more of a place for tuning. They're also a bit far away. I'm in SF.

Burlingame Independent seems to get good reviews. I am going to check them out for my timing belt replacement.

034motorsport in Fremont is a good option if that is not too far for you to drive to.

Default good shop in bay area

European Auto Service
Walnut Creek, CA
I've had some work done on my 12v a4 and tomas is great. Not cheap but he know audi very well. Its kind of far from sf though.

Default Pearce Autotech

I used Pearce Autotech when I lived in SF. He did my cam chain tensioner and valve cover gaskets. I was in the same situation as you where I could have done the wrenching but had no where to do it. His shop is very clean and organized and he took the time to go over everything with me.

http://www.pearceautotech.com/ located on brannan st. across from the BOA

Default SAS in P-town

I've been going to SAS German Automotive in Pleasanton for years. A bit of stretch from SF, but they are really good.
